Title: Indirections

Summary: This digital file is from the book Indirections, an on-line self-published book made up in part of a written document and in part a suite of 69 scanned drawings. The file comprises a text laid across a double spread: on the right hand side a record in diary form written by ME of a correspondence with H, in which ME recalls H recalling a memory, not only visual but also somatic and haptic; the garden, vegetation, objects surrounding the house and the space underneath it. On the left hand side is ME’s commentary, both upon H’s memory and the workings of remembrance itself. In making the drawings from memory H followed a single logic assiduously and used only ubiquitous materials. Both written text and scanned drawings are filed according to date.

Technical Detail: The drawings are on A4 computer paper with the following materials: Staples correction fluid, highlighter pen, edding 140S ohp marker permanent, Papermate W10 permanent marker, Staedtler triplus fineliner (0.3mm) coloured pens, watercolour paint, oil paint, rubber date stamp and scissors.
