  E-diagrams

Summary: At first H found recalling the house slippery. Although holding an image in his mind was possible, on returning to it, it appeared changed, at variance. It was as if on each re-encounter something escaped. To neutralize this unsettling impression H made a set of diagrams known now as the E-diagrams. These show the elevations of the house seen from four different orientations found by positioning himself centrally to the imagined façade according to the direction the heat of the sun might pass across his body. The arrows on the diagrams indicate the various possibilities for entering and exiting the house: doors, windows or simply anomalous openings.

Technical detail: Each of the four diagrams measure 45cm x 55cm. They are drawn in oil paint onto brown paper coated with Dulux mat emulsion house paint and rubber date stamped.
